 Patient Information Minimize

The Patient Information window contains information such as name, address, telephone, Social Security number and other basic information.

The Patient Information window is the window that appears when you choose "New Patient".

For existing patients, select the patient from the Front Desk window.  Then choose the "Patient Information" icon from the left toolbar.  Press the save icon after making changes.

Selecting a patient

From the Front Desk window, once you have at least one patient entered, you can now select patients.

  1. Type a few characters of the patient's last name, and optionally a slash "/" character and a letter or two of the first name.
  2. Press <Enter>.
  3. You see all the patient who match your selection criteria, although you've not selected the patient yet, you just see possible matches.
  4. Double-click on the patient to open their file.  Alternately, highlight the patient's name and press <Enter>.

Adding a new patient
  1. From the main frame menu of MyEMR for Windows, choose File->New Patient
  2. Add information as needed.  All that is required is 1) first name, 2) last name, 3) birthday, 4) sex, 5) payment type and 6) default provider, as indicated in the figure below.
  3. The purpose for the birthday of the patient is to determine if the patient is an adult or child (to refer to them as "Mr. Smith" or if a child, "John").  The purpose of the sex of the patient is in choosing pronouns of his/her, he/she, him/her, and default prefixes if not defined, i.e., "Mr." or "Ms.".
  4. Nothing else is required, but the basic address information is generally added.

 User Defined Fields Minimize

User Defined Fields

MyEMR for Windows and EMR Datacenter support user defined fields.  There are 3 unlimited length memo fields, 8 date fields, 8 edit fields and 8 yes/no fields.  The field names are defined from the main frame menu by selecting:

EMR Datacenter – Tools->Utilities->Customize Patient Fields
MyEMR for Windows – Tools->Customize->Patient Custom Fields

These field titles are used in the patient general information window from the User Defined Information tab.
